30DC – Day 7 Complete

I haven’t been whipping through the 30 Day Challenge lessons but have been making steady progress. The last two weeks has been spent moving a month’s worth of content to this blog and adding original content to the Best Temecula Wine Tasting site.
Nevertheless, I’m still very impressed by the 30 DC lessons and am [...]

Viper’s Video Quicktags Works Great

Thanks to a direct response to my Twitter account (trustavenger), I learned of a WordPress plugin called Viper’s Video Quicktags. I just tested it with the previous YouTube video and it worked like a charm.
Viper’s Video Quicktags will save you lots of time embedding video from YouTube, Google Video, DailyMotion, Vimeo, Veoh, Viddler, Metacafe, [...]

My First Trackback

One WordPress feature is automatic trackbacks (pingbacks) by other blogs powered by WordPress. I learned of my first trackback via a Google Alert. It’s a source of back links that may yield some traffic.
These trackbacks are tagged with the “nofollow” attribute so it won’t help Google Page Rank. WordPress 1.5 and above automatically [...]

How to Embed YouTube Videos in WordPress 2.6.2

Although embedding a Blip.tv video into WordPress 2.6.2 worked fine, I had a tough time embedding a YouTube video into WordPress. In frustration I did a Google search and discovered that the culprit is the WordPress Visual Editor. It needs to be turned off while embedding YouTube video into a new post or editing a [...]

Moved to WordPress and My Own Domain on HostGator

I moved my information marketing blog from a free Blogger account to using WordPress with my own domain (informationmarketingblog.com). This is actually an add-on domain hosted on HostGator.
It was not simple and I had second thoughts several times during the multiple day ordeal. The WordPress import tool simply didn’t work (despite moving [...]

September 2008 Rankings

As a result of the 30 Day Challenge, the ranking of the HubPages is pretty irrelevant since I’m launching a Temecula wine site soon using that process. However, these figures will be a good comparison for the upcoming Temecua wine site.

Best Temecula Wineries on HubPages

Search term: best wineries in temecula
Visits this month: 149

Why Follow Me?

I get new followers every day on Twitter even though my tweets aren’t interesting. It’s obvious that most are automated requests clicking through the followers list of A-list tweeters. This is another example of trickster marketing. I bet there are various ways to do this although Google Wealth Maker recently came to my attention via [...]

Life After Google

I’m a big fan of contrarians so I’m going to keep my eyes on a new web site called Life After Google. The related Squidoo lens is a kind of manifesto.
I’ve seen a number of these types of sites come and go since the Google IPO. The best ones simply disappear one day and leave [...]
